Singularity University (SU) is one of the world’s most advanced projects provid- ing education in entrepreneurship. With headquarters at the research center NASA Ames in Silicon Valley, SU aims at selecting, inspiring, and educating multidisci- plinary teams of leaders and entrepreneurs who seek to understand and apply today's exponentially growing technologies, and to contribute facing the great chal- lenges that mankind is confronted with.
Providing tools for facing mankind's challenges is also the mission of the Master in Complex Actions (MCA), an advanced educational program first launched this year under the coordination of SISSA (info: www.mca.sissa.it). At MCA, young PhD students and professionals with diverse backgrounds from physics to nano- and biotechnology, tackle globally important, highly complex problems with a revolu- tionary and exclusive approach arising from the synthesis between cognitive sciences, the frontiers of hard sciences, and business management practices.
The convergence of MCA’s and SU’s visions leads to the organization of this event, where MCA is glad to host in Trieste, for the first time, Singularity University For Italy (SU4I). This project was started by the Italian alumni of the 2010 Gradu- ate Studies Program of Singularity University, which was held at NASA Ames in Silicon Valley. SU4I aims at providing an open platform for collaboration and learn- ing, where the "Singularity University Thinking" is spread and applied.
The goal of SU4I is to promote a transformation in the way we innovate in Italy, thus enhancing the capability of facing today's great challenges - both local and global. SU4I aims at promoting the full entrepreneurial potential of those who believe that "the best way to predict the future is to invent it", by fostering the com- petitiveness of enterprises and of the Italian economic system.
